Why Kazuri?
Kazuri is a Swahili word meaning small and beautiful.
I grew up in Kenya, where Swahili was woven into everyday life, and when it came time to name my photography business, I couldn't think of a more fitting word.
Because beauty is what photography is really about.
Not the airbrushed, magazine-cover kind of beauty.
The beauty of your toddler's determined little stride.
The beauty of teenagers who are halfway between childhood and adulthood.
The beauty of a family gathered together in a season that will never quite come again.
The beauty of ordinary life.
My goal is to create photographs that feel authentic and timeless - images that look like you and remind you of how life felt in this moment.
But beautiful photographs don't happen by accident.
That's why I always meet with my clients before a session. Usually over coffee.
We'll talk about your family, what you're hoping for, where we'd like to shoot, and how to make the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. I'll happily help with clothing suggestions, colour palettes, and any questions you might have.
Most importantly, we get to know each other.
After all, being photographed can feel surprisingly vulnerable, and I don't believe anyone should have to stand in front of a camera being directed by a complete stranger.
By the time your session arrives, we'll already feel like familiar faces.
Then all that's left is to head out, find some beautiful light, and create something worth remembering.
